14 Inspirational Quotes By Dayanand Saraswati Who Revived Hinduism, That Will Fill You With Nationalism.

A proponent of the Hindu reform movement, Dayanand Saraswati is known as the founder of Arya Samaj. The organization worked towards reviving and popularizing Hinduism. Apart from that Dayanand was also known for inspiring nationalism in the minds of people. Here's an interesting story about the great social reformer.
Once during his visit to the holy city of Hrishikesh, Dayanand met a sage who had attained divine powers through years of penance.
While having a conversation with the sage, Dayanand asked, "What have you gained by doing penance?" To this the sage replied, "I have studied the Ashtang Yog. Ask me what I have not gained! Why do you ask me what I have gained? I have gained many remarkable Divine illuminations and powers."
In a bid to assert his superiority, the sage further added, "I have all the Divine illuminations and powers. You can see the river Ganga in front of your eyes! I can walk on it like on road. I have gained such Divine power with my penance."
At this Dayanand smiled a cryptic smile and asked, "Can you really walk on water?" The sage replied in a snobbish manner, "Son, do you doubt my ability? I will walk on water and show you!"
Dayanand quipped, "Then how will you come back?" At this the great yogi mocked Dayanand's foolishness and said, "Fool, the way I will go walking on the river, in the same way I will come back."
Unperturbed Dayanand fired another query his way, "I think you had to do a lot of penance to attain such Divine power." The sage answered, "Yes! I spent 60 years for this. To achieve this single Divine power I spent 60 years of my life. And you cannot even imagine what my age could be. It is not a child’s play to achieve Ashta-siddhi! It is not at all easy! I was able to achieve all this with many years of worship."
At this Dayanand calmly replied, "You spent 60 years for this – such a long period of your life. I feel sorry for that." Surprised the yogi asked the reason for feeling sorry at his unmatched feat. To which Dayanand replied, "It is very simple. I can swim very well, and if the river is flooded then I will call a boat-man, give him some money and will go across the river."
